LUQ Scientists and IITF Ecologist, G. González participated in the nationwide premiere of PBS SciGirls’ fourth season presenting majestic big trees of Puerto Rico
The nationwide premiere of PBS SciGirls’ fourth season will be online on February 1, 2018. Season four has six episodes with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning and a celebration of Hispanic heritage, language and culture.
The USDA Forest Service Research and Development participated in one of the episodes (#406 called Terrific Trees). USDA Forest Service Scientist, Research Ecologist and Project Leader at the International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Grizelle González was a mentor to the SciGirls during filming in El Yunque National Forest and other areas of Puerto Rico in March 2017.

Episode 406: Terrific Trees - The majestic big trees of Puerto Rico catch the attention of SciGirls in San Juan.
